I will never forget, Amanda Amanda, the girl who took me under her wing on my first day of school in the Philippines.
When I was eleven, I was sent off my to my parents to study in an international school abroad.
I was sent to live with my aunt in Manila and , and I was enrolled in Faith, Academy, an American School in the Philippines.
I was both terrified and excited excited, as it was my first time being away from my family for a long time.
On my first day of school, I didn't know what to do.
I saw so many students of different ages and I wanted to ask them where I was supposed to go, but I was too shy to speak at that time, I didn't speak English well, and I thought nobody would understand me.
So, I just looked for my classroom on my own after a minute of Walking Dead.
I felt a tap on my shoulder and saw a young girl smiling at me.
She asked me if I was Korean.
And, of course, I said, yes.
And she replied that she was Korean too and that she would help me around as she knew, I was new in the school.
Turns out, she was my classmate and her name was when Ji Hi Yong Wang, Amanda is is a English name.
She showed me our classroom, my seat, my locker, and all the essential areas of the school that I should know off of.
She even introduced me to everyone in the class.
I was very fascinated with her as she was.
So friendly that it made me feel like I'd known her for years took an an, after only being with her, for a short time.
From that moment, we became Inseparable.
We just clicked.
I was the shy one.
She was the outgoing outgoing, was dead.
It worked for both of us, especially as Amanda talked nonstop.
She was so good at talking that I was forced to practice my English with her because of that off.
After a few months, I became more confident in holding a conversation with my classmates.
I'm grateful that Amanda became my friend on that first day day, she took care of me and made me feel comfortable in my new school.
I could not imagine what I would have done without her that day.
