The Han River is very important as it is a symbol of pride for the Koreans and it represents the changes and developments in the country.
This river spends hundreds of kilometers from the Kumgang mountain in North Korea, Mount Taebaek in the South,
it snakes its way through Seoul and into the Yellow sea. Within Seoul City limits,
the river is more than a kilometer at its widest point and is surrounded by a different Han
River parks in various districts. At present,
the river is a symbol of the Korean Nation, with its different bridges
connecting various areas of the city. The river's surrounding parks attract not only families but also local and foreign visitors to enjoy the environment, beauty, and activities that they can do near the Han River.
Historically, the river played a central role in the formation of the nation as it became the major waterway of Seoul.
It was said that who ever controls the Han, controls the country, as it became the major transit way for rulers long ago to collect taxes in a nation surrounded by hills and mountains.
Clearly, without the Han, travel for trade and other activities would have been next to impossible.
It is important thing for the population as it is the main source of freshwater in Seoul.
After it is treated and purified, the water is supplied through an intricate piping system to the residents of the city.
The Han River also supplies water for industrial and general use in other cities along its course.
