I think it's because they know they have what it takes to be on top.
Many of these people are driven and have the skills and knowledge required to do to achieve the top position.
They also have a vision and are the reasons why their chosen industry moves forward.

now. While everyone knows how unscrupulous he
achieved this goal,
the fact is, he achieved it.
He was CEO for a long time because he had that X-Factor needed to be one.
