Let me talk about stress management skills because it is one of the most important skills
I've learned from my grandparents.
It may sound like a trivial skill to others but I believe that it's significant, especially nowadays when most people are suffering from issues like depression or anxiety attacks. When I was young, my grandparents took care of me because both of my parents had to go to work.
Fortunately, they were already retired
and since I was left in the hands of my grandparents, I learned so many things from them, including how to handle stress. In particular, my grandfather, who used to work as a professor, taught me how to manage obstacles in life in an intelligent way.
As far as I can recall, he would give me some math problems and I would solve them within five minutes.
It was initially stressful to me, but he explained that instead of complaining, I should relax
and think of the solutions. When I was in high school, school life was more stressful,
so my grandfather reminded me that I should take it easy.
He told me that stress is inevitable in life and being sad about it is completely normal.
The important thing is to use stress positively. To be more precise,
I can use it to motivate myself and work harder.
For instance, when I have an upcoming exam,
I feel stressed and pressured about it,
but every time I remember my grandfather, I managed to get back on track so that I can focus on my
preperation.
I think life can be stressful sometimes, but if we handle it properly and we don't lose ourselves,
we are more likely to overcome the trials and tribulations.
