It's mainly because most Zoo visitors go to zoos only with the thinking that they want to have a fun-filled activity.
So most of the time they either make detrimental disturbances to these dead animals behind their cages just like too much noise or even Flash from their cameras and so on without the staff teaching the public about animals.
The public won't care about animals at all for instance many nocturnal animals sleep during the daytime, but when visitors aren't taught about it, they might just insensitively talk loudly near them furthermore or teaching the public about animals can be a great opportunity to actively do Wildlife preservation campaigns.
