Since the question says should and I'm a big supporter of humans freedom to choose I'd say no children must never be forced to pay more attention to the news rather.
They can be given the freedom to like it or not.
We all know that if we make this task sound compulsory to them.
It just creates stress and pressure which can take out the fun from it and the real essence of getting the news information itself.
But if we show them the importance of paying more attention to the news and Associate it with a Twist of entertainment, I'm sure we can get them more into it which can be beneficial.
Yes absolutely paying more attention to the news surely leads to broadening their Horizons.
And in the long run being current with the news can help them improve their logical thinking decision-making skills and problem-solving skills.
So I strongly believe that it is the adults responsibility to guide and encourage children to school.
