Well, I believe that the actions of the parents depend on the gravity of their children's mistakes if it's not serious and they just did it out of Innocence.
I think they should let it slide especially because it's normal for kids to be impulsive.
However, if it's something serious like they are already stealing money or they are being violent towards their siblings.
I guess parents should talk to young children and impose some light punish me.
